With the 2011 model year just around the corner, Porsche has started stripping the camouflage from the redesigned 911 (codenamed 998 or 991).
Spied wearing production head- and tail lights, it's clear the new 911 will feature a front end with amber-colored LED turn signals and white LED daytime running lights. While the rear end is still heavily disguised (thanks to Porsche's secrecy about their new retracting spoiler), it appears the 911 will have LED taillights that look similar to the current 997.5 generation.
In terms of styling, the evolutionary design theme continues to reign supreme. Despite this, the headlights are more shapely, there are Panamera-style door mirrors, a revised rear windshield wiper, and wider rear wheel haunches. If our eyes aren't deceiving us, the mule also looks a tad longer than the current 911.
While details are limited, engine options will likely carryover with minor modifications to improve output and fuel efficiency. Like today's model, they will be connected to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission.
